The Araripe Manakin was discovered in 1996. (Brazil) This Critically Endangered species is down to about 50 birds and is threatened by habitat destruction.
The Scarlet Tanager, Piranga Olivacea, is a medium-sized North & South American songbird. Formerly placed in the tanager family (Thraupidae), it and other members of its genus are now classified in the Cardinal family, Cardinalidae.

The Rainbow Owl is a rare species of owl found in hardwood forests in the western United States and parts of China. Unlike most owls, which are nocturnal, the Rainbow Owl is active during the twilight hours at dawn and dusk, or on bright moonlit nights. The Rainbow Owl can be distinguished from other owls by its peculiar multicolored feathers but also by its unusually melodic call. Recent research also suggests that they are responsive to music and attracted to human singing.



The Blue Jay is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to North America. It is resident through most of eastern and central United States and southern Canada, although western populations may be migratory.
